What
is this medicine for?
FAVERIN 100 mg is the same medicine as FAVERIN 50 mg (fluvoxamine) — just
at the standard maintenance dose most adults need. It works by boosting
serotonin — a natural chemical in your brain that helps regulate mood, anxiety,
and repetitive thoughts. It is one of the most proven medicines for OCD.
Treatment always starts at 50 mg and is gradually increased. The 100 mg
tablet is used once your body has adjusted to a lower dose.
How
do I take it?
• Your doctor will have titrated you up
to this dose from 50 mg
• Depression: usual maintenance dose is
100–200 mg per day
• OCD: usual maintenance dose is
150–300 mg per day
• Doses above 150 mg per day should be
split — one dose morning, one dose evening
• Elderly patients and those with liver
problems: start lower and increase slowly

ℹ️ NOTE |
All the same
instructions apply as for FAVERIN 50 mg: take in the evening, swallow whole
with water, never stop suddenly, and always taper under medical guidance. |

Frequently
Asked Questions
❓ What is the difference between the 50 mg and 100 mg tablets?
The 100 mg tablet contains double the dose of the 50 mg. Treatment always
starts at 50 mg to allow your body to adjust. The 100 mg tablet is the standard
maintenance dose for most adults. For a 150 mg total daily dose, you would take
one 100 mg tablet plus one 50 mg tablet.
❓ Why do I take it split across morning and evening?
At doses above 150 mg daily, taking it all at once is more likely to
cause nausea and sleep disturbance. Splitting the dose improves tolerability
and keeps your blood levels more stable throughout the day.
❓ I take clozapine — is FAVERIN safe?
This combination requires specialist management. Fluvoxamine can increase
clozapine blood levels up to 10-fold, potentially causing serious side effects, including seizures. If your psychiatrist decides the combination is necessary,
your clozapine dose will need to be substantially reduced and monitored
closely.
